Terrific Tuesday~Littleton Historical Museum

Introducing Miss Annie Grace Cecil...She is currently employed (ok, just in this picture) as the Old Schoolhouse Teacher.
She is a kind teacher, who loves her country and her students.
She was sitting at this desk pretending like she was giving, "structions."
Not to be confused with, "instructions."
We missed meeting up with the whole group during their little tour, so we had a cute little school session by ourselves.

I think as a mother we always want to be in the "act" of teaching our children.  Whether it is a lesson of math they are not quite understanding, an experience with learning patience with a friend or sibling, or simply showing them love as an example of kindness...we are always teaching.

This week's TERRIFIC TUESDAY was at the Littleton Historical Museum.
It is this quaint little museum set up to show you how life was back in the early 1900s.
You can wander through old barns with the animals that would have occupied them.  A little school house with desks, a stove, and an outhouse out back.  It even had a blacksmith shop with a man serving as the blacksmith showing the children how they would heat the iron in order to form it for their needs.  I love that they were able to freely roam through these timeless structures and learn something new.

I had the girls lean up against this old cattle fence, because I actually have a picture of A.J. and Madison when they were little leaning on the same fence some 13 years ago!
Lindsay and Ellie sharing a smile headed back from the schoolhouse.
I love this banner and this flag.  Our country has come so far.  I want my children to always feel blessed to live in a free country with endless opportunities and the freedom of religion!

Here is Miss Cecil at her desk. :)

This is Miss Cecil giving a virtual tour of her classroom...

1. Student's desks
2. The map where she teaches the children all about the amazing country they live in.
3. She is showing them the stove that will keep them warm after they have walked to school "uphill both ways" in the snow.

Look at all these cute kiddos!
These two sweet sisters were hesitant to play up to the camera, but eventually they perked right up and smiled away!  They are adorable!!! (brilliant too!)

Here is our "local" blacksmith sharing his trade secrets with us!  He was great without the kids, and they loved the display.

Here is Miss Kim who is amazing and beautiful and set the entire day up for us!  Thank you Kim!

This was where he demonstrated how to cool the metal.  Ellie was a little on the dramatic side this particular day. :)

I absolutely loved this pantry!  On top of having a very cute Avery demonstrating the clothes washing tool, it was filled with jars of preserves, all kinds of tools used in the home and beautiful dishes.

Oh course it took my girls about three seconds to find the only thing "alive" in the entire house!  Here is this sweet cat who just let them pet to their heart's content.
Ainsley and Annie got in on the real cat business too!
Look at these paintings and that stove!  I picture that stove holding amazing stories of survival and love.
Here is our little 1940s baby!  Complete with a dress made by Guess and no shoes!  Once again, I cannot choose which expression of Tymber's I love the best, so you get all three! (Or rather, I get to remember all three)

The girls with the milk jugs!  They are seriously cute!!

I love that while Annie was petting the cow outside, Lindsay and Ellie were plugging their noses inside!

Davis saw the camera and RAN!  However, I did want to catch the only boy with us for the day!  An entire group made up of adorable girls, and one very good looking boy!  (He actually wears a cute t-shirt that reads, "Single and loving it!"  Trust me...he will be a catch when he is willing to change that status in about 18 years!

Here is Tymber's best friend Cortney!  Isn't she beautiful?  Look at those eyes!!

Lindsay just "hanging out" and looking cute as ever!

Annie was sitting with Cortney and Tymber.  She was whispering to Cortney, "Look, there is your best friend Tymber Julia."  It was precious, and Cort was a great sport about it!

Tym Tym was taking off for the sidewalk sporting a little fruit leather on her face and a box of raisins in her hand!
Thank you Littleton Museum!  The girls loved our little adventure here.  They learned things about metal, visualize what it may have been like going to school in that sweet schoolhouse, and got to chase, pet and almost catch every animal you had to offer!  We'll be back again next summer!

***I love the summer and these great activities put together by a group of amazing mothers and organized by our sweet friend, Dori!  Thank you to everyone! If you click here you can see some of these kiddos from one of last year's TERRIFIC TUESDAYS!
