This was the most exciting part of our day...taking Easton for private surfing lessons.
Do you think he was excited?
He rocked!
This was no surprise to his dad and I, but the instructor was impressed.
He loved every single minute of it!
I couldn't choose which pictures to keep and which ones to cut, because I wanted to remember every moment of this boy getting to know this board and in some cases, the bottom of the ocean.
Mostly, it was the ocean breeze smiling at his natural ability to accomplish anything to do with gross motor skills.
I loved just watching him. Watching him figure it out. Watching him crash and burn. And most of all, watching him try it over and over again, improving with each opportunity.
Surfing was the best part of the day, but this is how it actually began...these little creatures gracing our hotel room as they found themselves becoming relocated by some kids from Denver.
Pretty cool though, huh?
They were not shy in the least bit. They crawled all over the kids. As they crawled the kids smiled, and I got more and more grossed out!
Annie was still sporting her "bed head" when she took her turn with our morning guests.
Then we headed to the ocean. I had already dropped Easton off for his private lesson, so we parked the car and headed down the beach to watch him.
Above is Easton's first try...rocking' it right?
Just kidding...actually...the first picture is the surfer right next to him :), and this one is his first attempt!
Not bad for a novice! His teacher was amazed how quickly he got it. This is Easton's natural gift. He knows how to rock his body and succeed in his athleticism.
Today was the day that Tymber fell in love with her dad. Over and over again as she put her toes in the sand, laid her head gently against his shoulder and smiled for me as I captured another day in her first week of experience with the ocean.
G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S right? I love this man!
Loving the sand between her toes...
And drooling and drooling...
A little bit of crashing...
And that Easton determination to try again and again to improve.
This is the new pet that the girls caught and planned on relocating to an aquarium at home, unfortunately, the seagull above decided to relocate it to his stomach when we weren't looking. :(
Easton, his board and his instructor, who totally rocked!
When we first arrived, the girls ran into the ocean as I set up a safe place for Annie, Tymber and I to hang.
No sooner had they touched the water, and Brooke came running up with an absolutely perfect sand dollar.
I proceeded to tell her that she was going to have an amazing day, because finding a perfect sand dollar with no cracked edges with such intense surf was so rare. It was special, just like her!
Well, it proved to be AN INCREDIBLY SPECIAL day for our little ones. They proceeded to find over 20 sand dollars!!!
Even Easton's instructor thought it was incredible, and she is on that part of the beach every single day!
When we got home they wrapped up one for each of their teachers with a little note from them. Too cute!
Ellie and Easton found that the board was a nice place to hang out without water too! |
Tymber drifted away to dreamland as we tried to protect every single piece of her precious baby skin.
Annie getting a little chilly with her daddy!
The many emotions and faces of Tym Tym!
Ellie practicing the Karate Kid's trademark move in the second installment of that movie trilogy. I love that Easton is on his way in, and Ellie is greeting him with such zen.
Sweeeet arrival!
Tymber loved the sand! I thought that she would touch it and want me to pull her to safety, but not this little Cecil bundle. She loved it!
Contemplating...Absolutely loving it! Go Ellie!
Now that is a great pic!
I love this girl! She has moments where she acts like we are oil and water, but I live for those moments when the guard goes down, and she lets loose. She is beautiful. Absolutely beautiful!
Madie was sporting a tankini, but decided to expose her pretty white tummy to the bright sun...not a great union!
Her shins and back had the same encounter with that California sun.
The Good Year blimp and perfect sand dollars all in one day? We are one lucky family!
This newly christened California surfer decided to wear his hair in an appropriate fashion for dinner!
Nice shades Brooke!
I absolutely LOVE this boy! I love how he will try anything, and that, more often than not, he succeeds.
He knows his strengths and capitalizes on them, and he knows his weaknesses and tries to work on them.
John treated A.J.'s baseball team to dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe, we danced to some sweet music in the street, and Annie got to pick her very first Build-A-Bear project.
When it came to the sound chip that goes inside her little friend we all had a message for her, "Goodnight Annie! Goodnight Annie! Goodnight Annie! Goodnight Annie" with each of our voices her telling our precious Annie goodnight!
This is hilarious! The above picture is John reading the below "Bear Promise." We all watched with smiles as dad read this promise and turned to us and said, "What am I doing here?" You probably had to be there, but it was probably one of the funniest moments of the entire week! Daddy, YOU are our #1 Pal! :)
The night ended with Disney fireworks, a very happy owner of a new dog, and a relaxed family making great memories, and looking forward to a day at Disney!
Our own little "Madison trailer."
